On November 5-7, the Kelleys Island Audubon is having their annual Owl
Festival. Master Bird Bander Tim Bartlett along with his wife, Paula, and Chris Ashley, KI State Park Manager, will be banding saw-whet owls. Each night banding starts at dark and continues until 10 pm. This happens, weather permitting, at the Scheele Preserve and North Pond.
At 8 pm on Friday only, Pat Hayes will be leading an Owl Prowl to the North Pond tower. Meet at the North Pond parking lot and make sure to bring a flash light.
The saw-whet owl is a very reclusive bird, so this is a great opportunity to see them up close.
